The band, then called 'Humanity, was formed in Cambridge in 2000, the first three years were spent writing and performing their original songs all around the UK metal scene. A reputation was quickly given to the young rockers for being a very professional live stage act with a huge wall of sound and highly energetic stage show. Demand at shows lead to the first EP being released in 2001 and a follow up in 2002.
In 2003 the debut album ' When Silence Calls'was recorded with Pete 'Pee Wee' Coleman. (AC/DC, Rush & Paradise Lost) The album received 8/10 ratings across the board by reviewers. Humanity went on to play high profile gigs with Dragonforce, Jeff Scott Soto & Children of Bodom
In 2005 the band played Bloodstock open air and met Evergrey. The bands remained friends. During 2007 the band line up changed slightly and the new name AWAKE was launched. The second album 'Illumination' was recorded and produced by Tom Englund (Evergrey) at his studios in Sweden. Lion Music released the album worldwide and AWAKE went on a UK and European tour with Evergrey followed up with two tours with Magnum
AWAKE have recorded their third album, an album teaser 'Bleed From You' was released for radio play and magazine reviews where its been received with huge praise. Midlands Rocks said " This is an impressive master class in all things 'melodic', 'Symphonic' and hard rock, a song that soars to the skies and takes us all on the ride of our lives".
New album 'Forever More' was released October 14th 2011

REVIEW FROM AL BARROW, BASS PLAYER, MAGNUM --
We have crossed paths with the guys in AWAKE a few times now. From meeting the guys they seem down to earth and quite restrained. This is not the case once these guys tread the boards. Very high standards of musicianship shines through to support well thought out vocals and melodies.
Simon Shedwell delivers passion and vocals of power from start to finish. You get a strong feel of a very accomplished rhythm section with this band. Solid but with just the right amount of flair and extravagance you want to hear from a live band. Steven & Andy Coles deliver a wall of controlled sound with a fierce energy and professionalism. Chris Le Mottée nails every thunderous note holding fast with intricate powerful drumming by Alex Townsend. All the soundscape held very nicely together with well placed and thought out keys by Craig Burkitt.
Having these guys hit the stage before us was a no brainer. Getting the crowd well worked up and in the mood for some good rock tunes. As I mentioned, true gents off stage but a force to be reckoned with when the stage lights go on and these guys do what they do best. Play it live and play it loud. The only way!.
