The Cambridge Band Competition 2010 presented by Strawberry Fair

16 bands compete for 5 places in the final and the chance to win 250 pounds, lots of great gigs and the hearts and minds of the Cambridge music scenesters! The first heat featured the indie rock stylings of The Whisky Jax, Trevor Jones, Yo Yo Yo Litvinenko and The Loop and the standard was really high with great sets from everyone. The winners were Yo Yo Yo Litvinenko by a whisker and this weeks heat looks just as promising.

Heat 2 - Thursday 11th March - The Portland Arms

The second of four heats brings a mix of roots, skiffle, blues and folk to the Portland with Tin Pan Alley, Th' Parish, Bryony, Alex & Grace, Big in Litlington (BiL). Heat 3 Thursday 18th March - The Portland Arms

There is a decidedly singer-songwriter feel to tonight's heat as regular Band Comp compere Tom Dalpra (ex-Nutmeg) introduces: Solace, Alphah, Wil Makower and KTP. Tickets are 5 pounds from http://www.wegottickets.com">www.wegottickets.com or on the door.


Heat 4 - Thursday 25th March - The Portland Arms

Get ready to rock here come the noisy boys! ClementWave, A Thousand Sins, Unit Nine & Sachanovak. Tonight we will also announce the audience vote winners to appear alongside the winners form each heat at the Junction on 15th April. Final Friday 15th April The Junction

Whilst we dont know who will be in the final we do know that it will feature the five heat winners, the audience favourite from the heats and the committees favourite! Thats a massive mega big SEVEN band final. 5 pounds in advance from http://www.junction.co.uk">www.junction.co.uk or 7 pounds on the door.


The winners will walk away with 250 pounds, a photo-shoot, mentoring sessions and various festival appearances in the city and further afield including Strawberry Fair, The Big Day Out and Fordham Fest. In addition Vertical Rooms Recording Studios are offering a prize for the best song performed at the competition.
