Greetings to my old stamping ground of Cambridge.
I haven't lived here since 1988 when I left to live abroad, but before this time I was the rhythm guitarist and harmony vocalist in a band called The Agents, who did nearly 200 gigs in the Cambridge area sometime between (I think!) 1979 and 1984.
I think our only claim to fame is that we had a track on the "Honey for tea" compilation album in 1982, which apparently was played by John Peel three times on his show at the time (just after we had split up due to "musical differences" of course).
The other members of the band were
Steve ?? (vocals) (later replaced by Graham ??)
Mark ?? (bass) (later replaced by Andy Metcalfe, who went on to play with The Frigidaires)
Nick Clarke (drums) who later moved down to London to play with The Assassins
Steve Seymour (guitars, vocals) (I know Steve used to work at Eadon Lilley in Cambridge)
After The Agents split up I ended up using our pathetic home-made lighting rig to illuminate the wonderful Katrina and the Waves before they made it big. A big hello at this point to Katrina and Kimberly.
One of the main reasons for joining cambridgebands.com was the vague hope of making contact with anyone who used to play in the band or knew us at all.
I'd be really pleased if anyone has any more information about where the guys who used to be in the band are now. If anyone is interested, I've just finished digitalising about 15 tracks that we had on cassette from our various studio visits. These could be made available to anyone who sends a suitably pleasant and/or grovelling mail.
